06About the academy

We teach AI engineering the way good teams practice it.

NeuralForge Academy is an online academy for developers who want to build AI applications that hold up outside a demo. We focus on the engineering around the model: data, interfaces, evaluation, observability and the judgment to know when a simpler approach is better.

01

Our mission

Language models have made it easy to build something impressive in an afternoon. Making it dependable is a different job. It means knowing what the model can see, measuring whether answers are right, handling the cases where they are not, and running the system at a cost you can explain.

Our mission is to teach that job clearly. We want anyone who completes a program to be able to design an AI feature, defend its trade-offs in a design review, and show the tests that back it up.

Learning principles

  1. 01

    Foundations before frameworks

Frameworks change quickly. Tokens, retrieval, schemas and evaluation do not. We teach the underlying mechanics first, so tools become choices rather than dependencies.

  2. 02

    Every claim gets a test

If a change makes the system better, there should be a number or a failing case that shows it. Learners keep a small evaluation set from the first week.

  3. 03

    Design for failure paths

Models will be wrong, slow or unavailable. We treat “not found”, timeouts, step limits and human escalation as features to design, not edge cases to ignore.

  4. 04

    Write it down

Architecture decision records, READMEs and evaluation reports are part of every project. Clear writing is how engineering decisions survive a team.

03

Curriculum philosophy

Programs are sequenced around systems, not tools. You start with a single well-understood model call, then add retrieval, then tools, then evaluation and deployment — each layer introduced only when the previous one is measurable.

Exercises use small, realistic datasets and deliberately include messy inputs: inconsistent documents, ambiguous questions and tools that fail. The goal is to practice the judgment real projects demand.

See how the paths are sequenced
  1. 01one model call
  2. 02+ structured output
  3. 03+ retrieval
  4. 04+ tools
  5. 05+ evaluation
  6. 06+ deployment

05The learning method

Learn it the way you’ll build it.

Every module follows the same four-stage loop, and every stage leaves behind an artifact you keep.

  1. 01

    Understand the system

Build foundations before adding complexity. Each module starts with how the parts work and where they fail.

    Artifact: Architecture sketch

  2. 02

    Build a working version

Implement a small, complete version with guided exercises, then extend it one decision at a time.

    Artifact: Working prototype

  3. 03

    Test the failure cases

Measure quality, safety and reliability with test sets, adversarial inputs and regression checks.

    Artifact: Evaluation report

  4. 04

    Prepare for production

Document trade-offs, add tracing and budgets, and deploy thoughtfully with a rollback plan.

    Artifact: Deployment checklist

What makes it practical

Runnable starter repositories
Every module ships with code that runs locally, so you spend time on decisions, not setup.
Project reviews against a rubric
Reviews focus on failure handling, evaluation and documentation — the things that are hard to self-assess.
Vendor-neutral by default
Exercises work with a hosted model API or an open-weight model behind a small interface you control.
Honest scope
We do not promise jobs, certifications or shortcuts. We promise a clear curriculum and real practice.
